Where It Comes From

A cheese made for the mountains — now made for dogs.

High in Nepal's Himalayan villages, yak milk has long been turned into a hard, naturally preserved cheese called chhurpi — valued for how long it lasts without refrigeration or additives. YakTails is made from this same Himalayan yak cheese.

Single Ingredient

Just Himalayan yak milk cheese, lime juice, and salt — nothing else goes into the recipe.

No Fillers, No Preservatives

No artificial colors, preservatives, or additives — the way chhurpi has always been made.

Grain-Free by Nature

Not formulated to be grain-free and low-lactose — it simply is, by tradition.

Founder's dog
Founder Story

It started with a stray dog in Kathmandu.

"In 2022, I started rescuing stray dogs on the streets of Nepal. When I moved to the U.S. for college, I noticed something surprising — dogs everywhere, even in loving homes, could feel the same loneliness and anxiety I saw in the dogs I rescued back home. In 2024, on a trek through the Himalayas, I came across yak cheese — chhurpi — for the first time, and realized it could be something special for dogs. YakTails became the bridge between the two things I care about most — dogs, and home."

02

Soak it in warm water for 5 minutes.

03

Microwave the chunk for 40–60 seconds.

04

Let it cool for 2 minutes.

05

Treat your dog to a crunchy puff.
